Your nutritionist will translate the latest scientific findings into an easy-to-understand, realistic, and structured eating plan. What is a registered dietitian/licensed nutritionist? A registered dietitian (RD) is a food and nutrition expert who has met academic and professional requirements to qualify for the credential “RD.” In addition to RD credentialing, North Carolina requires all dietitians to be licensed nutritionists. All of the nutritionist at Personalized Nutrition, Inc. are registered dietitians and licensed nutritionists. A registered dietitian/licensed nutritionist is recognized as the most valuable source of good nutrition advice. Registered dietitians provide reliable, up-to-date food and nutrition information. RDs know the science of nutrition and have the education to back it up. What are the educational and professional requirements for a registered dietitian?

How long are the nutrition counseling sessions? The initial nutrition counseling appointment is 50-60minutes. Follow up appointments are 20-30 minutes. Can I pick a particular nutritionist? Yes, visit our Get to Know our Nutritionists page and read our biographies. Select a nutritionist that best meets your needs. Does insurance cover nutrition counseling? Insurance may cover the cost of nutrition counseling for diagnosis such as diabetes and high cholesterol. Contact your insurance company to determine if nutrition counseling is a covered benefit. Often times, proof of medical necessity is required. At this time, we accept Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (only selected plans offer insurance reimbursement), Wellpath, Aetna, and Medicare (at this time, only Diabetes is a covered diagnosis).
